ArchivedGerani, youll want to read thisOkay, then it would be fair to say that Buddhists who keep shrines and visit sacred shrines are gripped with fear? This could also indicate that these people finally put their faith in their faith. J Getting your mind and attention off of you can bring peace and serenity at times. A faith in a supreme being is not a requirement for living a productive life, on that I agree, however, I don’t accept that the concept of god in all cultures is a result of trying to explain the origins of life and an attempt to placate nature. And then there are those miracles of healing that cannot be ascribed to mind over matter. I fully agree that the mind can help heal the body. I volunteer with men who have AIDS and all of them live in constant fear of the virus and as a result are nervous, filled with stress, and not doing very well. All of them have CD4 counts below low normal. On the other hand as an AIDS patient who has faith have and know my God is in control have a CD4 count that is so far above what is considered normal my doctors are in awe. A lot of human disease is the result of stress, bad diet, bad habits, and abuse of our bodies. So simply applying common sense to how we live can improve our health, our mental acuity, attitude, and quality of life on that I can agree. But I still have faith in God. I would disagree. When science can prove where all the stardust came from and create life out of nothing but their imagination I will find that convincing proof. When science can fully explain the theorized 9 dimensions and take us to them I will find that convincing proof. Many people put their faith in science since they can read reports and see pictures, graphs, fossils, and etc. so this makes it easier to believe (have faith) in what they can see. This is faith in human intellect and human ability to control his environment. If history has taught us anything it is human beings destroy what can’t be replaced out of selfishness and greed. I will keep my faith as my personal experience has demonstrated there is a power far above human capacity to lift itself out of human nature, a nature that is selfless only by training and choice. |
