Archivedhinduism: THE FACTS.destiny of samsara (cycle of death, rebirth), not nirvana. to but it straight, vedas contain divinty, like the bible. its divinly inspired. therfore it contains divinity. if a person keeps doing evil actions he will be in a constant state of desire, no satisfaction and willl be in constant hell. if a person does good acts, follows God, then he can be in a peaceful state of mind and be with God in constant heaven. its all in the state of the soul. heaven and hell are not actual places (though in stories they are considered different worlds) they are states of the soul, hell being a state of deprivation, sadness, evil, and unhappiness, while heaven being, godly, happy, goodness, love and faith with God. it sure is helpful to know a guru and read about it. guru meaning an enlightened hindu teacher. i think a devotee can figure out who is true and who is false. but it really is up to the follower. like that holy babu dude ( i think thats what his name is ) he was popular in the 70s and 80s i think for most hindus. but i didnt like him at all. because of certain things i heard about him, i wasnt sure. some people liked him because they found him enlightnened and such, but some ppl dont. but there are many gurus that are good and reliable and enlightened, the one i follow is swami Chinmayananda. not everyone has to have one. its preferable to have one though. its much easier. okay, abortion is my view, not because im hindu, but my views as a political liberal. i think abortion is wrong, but it still should be legal. please lets not talk about it in this thread. okay, not all hindus are extremists. they basically believe that they must kill for a neccessity. like bugs, weeds, germs even. extremeists (very few) do that, but its rare. most hindus dont eat meat, but nowadays its hard to find fine vegitarian cuisine outside of India. jains (followers of Jainism) on the other hand have monks that wear clothes over thier mouthes to not breath in small animals, and they sweep the ground before them with a brush so they will not step on it. hinduism doesnt believe that to that extremity, but concerning wars and stuff, they should be done only to a necessity. such as protecting the country, its a necessity. but attacking and conquering, no, it isnt. random murders and abortion goes against ahimsa as well. read what it says again: I believe that no particular religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others. all religions teach the different ways to reach salvation, but they are different. none is above another. all religions are genuine deserving of tolerance and understanding. and thus we respect christiantiy as a genuine path to God, like all religions are genuine pathes to God. |
