However, I'm a little wary as to whether or not that verse should be taken as doctrine, a teaching from God that all babies do in fact go to heaven, or if it is just the recorded words of a man that shows what he hoped would happen and how he talked to his servants in light of the circumstances that had just taken place. And I guess the reason that I'm having trouble reconciling it is because of the verse I first posted. I don't know how to get past the fact that the Bible teaches that we are all conceived with sin, and that all sinners who don't get saved are condemned to hell. How can that be reconciled with what you are saying - that David (indirectly) said his dead baby was automatically going to heaven, even though he was too young to comprehend what faith in God was? |
