If I had a dollar for every gay who said what you just posted I would be wealthy. There is no arrogance as great as that of the young and untried. AIDS has very little to do with the short lifespan of gay men. The fact you even brought it up shows just how ignorant you are of the spread of this disease and who is most at risk. You have the usual western arrogance when it comes to matters that don't affect us as much as it does those in 3rd world countries. But since you brought up STD's, according to the CDC gay men are from 5 times (syphilis and gonorrhea) to 5000 times (HIV/AIDS) at greater risk for becoming infected with a STD. With all the attention devoted to HIV little attention is paid to hepatitis B and C, which are also spread through sex and are more prevalent than HIV.
I was 53 when I was diagnosed HIV+ and of all the people, gay and straight, I know who are HIV+ very few have as good a blood count as I do. BTW, it only takes one sexual contact to become infected if your partner is infected. So personal promiscuity is not always the issue. If you know anything about HIV my CD4 count tests between 890 and 1114. AIDS is no longer a death sentence and has been a manageable disease since the development and FDA approval of protease inhibitors in 1995.
Every person who deals with depression and suicidal tendencies blames society; that my friend is a cop out. I came out in the 60’s, decades before homosexuality was “acceptable” and I could have cared less what society thought. The most traumatic fact of my life that I had to deal with was obesity; that is until I lost 110 lbs. I suppose I could blame society for all the teasing I got for being so heavy but why? Proper diet, exercise, and taking personal responsibility for my self-image was what I needed to do not find some scapegoat to blame so I could feel sorry for myself. Again you are doing nothing more than parroting what you have been told. Why don’t you do some research before you continue to spread half-truths and fabrications used by gay activists for decades for political gain.
