Science, Creation & EvolutionNoah catching his animals...
I agree with you that Scriptue and science should agree because God is indeed the author of both. But the phrases "the Bible does not necessitate in any way the dinos did coexist with humans" and "there is nothing in Scripture that requires they do" keeps getting thrown around in this thread without any backup, and frankly I'm growing weary of asking for some verses that prove this point. Your statements that the Bible doesn't require it are without proof from the Bible and are not worthy of my time, whereas the statements I have made, I have backed up with Scripture, and you have yet to show where they are invalid. Looking at the Genesis account of creation, all land animals were created on day 6. Man was also created on day 6. How, then, can you say there is no Scriptural text that says dinos and man did coexist? And why can't you provide any Scriptural evidence that points toward millions of years, which is what would be necessary for dinos not to have coexisted with man? Yes, I understand this. You, however, must understand that just because the Bible talks about something tangentially, does not mean it is any less authoritative on that subject. The Bible is inerrant and infallible in its entirety. This means that no matter what it speaks about, whether it be religion, politics, science, or the future, it is the absolute authority on that matter. If it were not, it wouldn't be God's Word. Let me ask you this.... When did all these fossil fuels and ecological activity become a noticeable benefit to us? IOW, has man been using fossil fuels ever since his beginning? Or is it just in recent history that man has benefitted from these resources? Here's my point: If fossil fuels have only been a benefit to us in recent times, then your statement of dinos living millions of years before us is moot. Dinos could have just as easily provided this same benefit to us if they were all fossilized only a few thousand years ago in, oh say, a world-wide flood. I'm not arguing that fossil fuels don't exist (I'm not that crazy ) or that they're not beneficial to us. I am simply saying that the Bible provides an explanation of how all these resources got here without necessitating that there be millions of years for them to develop. |
