Science, Creation & EvolutionFinding God in His wordJovaro, I absolutely did look at it objectively, since I didn't want to accept ANY of them. First, you need to understand the context and nature of Hebrew linguistics. Also, you need to understand that the concept of "worldwide" is a modern phenom. Only in the last 2 hundred years has 'worldwide' really meant "global"....there are many many examples of this in scripture. In the world of man, the ENTIRE world of man...it was flooded. So, it is not wrong or parabolic in nature. However, what was the entire world of man? It was in the mesopatamian plain. The flood works, its likely, and it does not contradict science. The word 'Yohm' is the same word in Hebrew meaning "day", "age" , "era" and so on. If you look in Genesis 2, you will see the phrase "In the day (yohm) of its creation", refereing to ALL SIX DAYS of creation. In other words, contextually, there is NO WAY this refers to a 24hr day. Hence, again, no contradiction with science. THere is NO biblical claim that dinosaurs lived with man. So, all of your supposed "unlikely" explanations, in my opinion, are HIGHLY likely, and there is no contradiction to known science. As opposed to book of Mormon where they believe Heaven is in the center of our galaxy (radiation city, no chance of life), and we inherit planets to populate, God lives on Kolob....et. et. et. Here is a good link for the errors in the Book of Mormon. http://www.godandscience.org/cults/dna.html If you filter through his site, he has tons of the Errors in Mormonism, you should enjoy it. Read this link for scientific errors in the Quran http://www.studytoanswer.net/myths_ch2.html#ch2-5 This site shows not only scientific errors, but inconsistency and general errors as well. Its very well done. In other words, YES, I laugh at these so called scriptures, and find that the Bible stands up to all the tests I hold these other books too. If you think the Bible 'suits my view', you are wrong. My view was aimed at ANYTHING other than embracing a religion with the demands of Christianity and the Bible. WHO WOULD WANT THAT?? The Christian religion is by far the hardest to follow, and has the most unkind things to say about our state as humans...in particular, MY STATE....no, it did not suit my view, it is just the Truth. |
