I want to talk about the messiahship of Jesus.
His original name in hebrew is Yeshua as we all know. Yeshua means "SALVATION"
"I will raise up to David a righteous Branch (Tsemach), a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land." - Jeremiah 23:5
Jews and Christians agree that the BRANCH means the messiah.
"Take silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Yehoshua son of Yehotsadak. Tell him this is what the Lord almighty says: Here is the man whose name is the branch..." -Zechariah 6:11-12
Above verse seem to say Yeshoshua shares the same name as the messiah. Yehoshua means "YWHY, the LORD, helps or saves" What about the people that say Yeshua isnt Yehoshua. But heres a verse where Yehoshua was called "Yeshua"
"In the second month of the second year after their arrival at the house of God in Jerusalem, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Yeshua son of Yehotsadak and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites and all who had returned from the captivity..." -Ezra 3:8
Yeshua = Salvation Yehoshua = YHVH, the LORD, helps or saves
Most of above information i got from: http://www.revive-israel.org/articles/2 ... ied_to.htm
So Christians will agree with me SALVATION is the main purpose of Jesus/Yeshua's first coming. And that his sacrafice on the cross saves us. Now I want too look at things that his sacrafice is parallel too. Most here should know his life is parallel to Joseph son of Jacob, Moses, and Israel. But I want to take a look at the other things. First i want to talk about Unleavened Bread.
And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. - Luke 22:19-20
Unleavened bread is ate by the Jews in Passover to help them remember there deliverance from slavery in Egypt. Leaven represents SIN. And naturally because the way its cooked, the bread comes out with stripes and piecings. Jesus/Yeshua was a SINLESS scarfice and was striped and pierced by wounds he endured for us.
Another parallel ive heard is this sheep story. Correct me if im wrong in this, but this is how it goes. When a farmer has a two mother sheep, both bearing a child and one mother sheep dies, and the other mother sheep lost a child at birth. The farmer would drain the blood from the dead CHILD SHEEP and cover it with the motherless CHILD SHEEP, and the ALIVE mothersheep would'nt know the difference and adopt the sheep as her own. This is something I awhile ago, sounds possible, but please correct it if it's wrong.
Seems to me, the messiah comes to save. What do you guys think?
Bless you all
