ArchivedHow to help gay friends..Ah, another gay supporter calling me a liar. I have experienced more "happiness" since leaving gay life than at any time prior. I now know who I am and what I can do when I choose to take control of my life and not just react to circumstances and emotions. Seeking acceptance was not the reason I sought to change. My friends were gay, my family and employers knew I was gay and I never experienced overt or covert discrimination because of my sexuality until I walked into a church. There is a vast gulf between "supressing" and "controlling" your desires. In order to change your sexuality the first step is to accept you have the desires and are willing to work on controlling those desires and then work on changing the desires. I guess we can blame all the drinking, sex, drugs, and etc. practiced by heterosexuals on society. After all when we can blame someone else for the problems in our lives we don't have to accept personal responsibility for our decisions. |
