beads wrote:Many people are under the false impression that God's primary attribute is love. Well, IT IS NOT. God's primary attribute is holiness. See Isaiah 6:3 "And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory." This is the only time in Scripture that an attribute of God is mentioned 3 times in succession. And whenever something is repeated in the Bible, it is meant to bring emphasis to it, i.e. verily, verily. So in light of this, can you see why God sometimes acts the way He does? His holiness demands it. He cannot accept sin because He is holy. Sin must be punished. Punishment may seem unloving, but again God's love is a "subset" of His holiness.
Ok so how can god hate child molesters and gays
God does not hate these people. He hates the sin of these people, and this sin must be punished because of God's holiness.
It is written:1 John 4:8 - He that loveth not knoweth not God; for
God is love.
1 John 4:16 - And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.
God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
And yes God is absolutely Holy and righteous.
Holy, holy, holy is repeated three times in sequence because it is in referernce to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
And He will punish the unrighteous for their sins, and chasten the disobedience of his sons who claim to be righteous and holy but inwardly are liars.
