I find it remarkable that the only people who ever seem to talk about the homosexual agenda are not homosexuals. It's fascinating how obsessed fundies appear to be with 'the other team' when they refuse to get their own house in order. But as a courtesy, I thought I would share the real homosexual agenda. This little queer's dream for the future and society. Some of it you will find quite acceptable. Some of it you will find provokative. But as long as it's through provoking and enlightening, that's all that counts.
1) That homosexuals be accepted as equals in all areas and are not denied any rights or opportunities that are granted to heterosexuals.
2) That our relationships be ordaned, recognised and approved by the state, church and our families.
3) That 'coming out' be rendered a painless and simple statement of fact instead of the huge drama it is. This means parents don't force the expectation that their children be heterosexual.
4) That GLBT people be proportionately and accurately portrayed in the mainstream media. The 'suffering minority' or 'sexual deviant' roles are not relevant or accurate to today's vibrant queer society.
5) That public figures who are GLBT feel free to come out without fear of any backlash whatsoever.
6) The concept of 'the family' be changed from the ridiculous, outdated idea of 'mum, dad, 2.3 children, the dog, and the house in the suburbs' to a much more open, diverse and emcompassing term.
7) That children no longer call each other 'poof' 'fag' 'dyke' or whatever in the playground, and that people no longer use the word 'gay' to refer to something they don't like that has no relevance to homosexuality.
8 ) That it be recognised that GLBT people are no less capable of being affirmative and loving parents and that there be no more ridiculous statements of a child 'needing' a mother and a father while these stable, two parent, same-sex homes exist.
9) That safe sex be encouraged to the point where it is almost universally practised. STD infection rates have plummetted in the western world, due to promotion of safe sex that has primarily been the work of the gay community. However STD's are not a 'gay' issue, they affect everybody, and safe sex techniques should be made open, free and available to people worldwide. There is simply no need for 60% of people on the African continent to be suffering HIV. We can fight this.
10) That HIV-phobia be reduced. This means recognising the current stance of medical authorities who have stated that HIV is not a terminal condition, but a chronic condition similar to diabetes (obvious difference, HIV is infectious). There are many people in the world with HIV who will never die from it. Yet there are still people in the world who think HIV=death. With the proper treatment, a HIV positive person can live for decades with the infection.
