ArchivedDoes the Bible teach Scripture only?I have a couple of the "Dummies" books, but I will pass on your suggestion. I don't need a book to tell me the difference between Roman Catholicism and Biblical Christianty; I have the Bible for that purpose. You assumption is that once we die we go directly to heaven or hell avoiding the Judgment seat of God for those in hell and the White Throne judgment for those in heaven. Can you establish this Biblically or are you just assuming something you wan to so you can justify your thesis? Upon death our spirits return to Him who gave it. So I suppose even those destined for hell are in heaven awaiting judgment? Or are they in purgatory being purged of their sins before admission to heaven? So those dead in Christ are eagerly awaiting Christ in a fiery purgatory being cleansed of sin because the sacrifice of Christ did not accomplish its purpose? 3 "And those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. 4 "But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." NAS
I don't see a period of purging in this; I see those who are dead sleeping until their bodies are quickened for judgment or rewards.
Col 2:13-15 13 And when you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him. NAS
Bankruptcy will cancel a decree of debts. Purgatory means that Christ did not cancel our debts and and decrees against us and lables Paul a liar. |
