First of all as Christians we believe that the Father, Son and Holy spirit are one, therefore the Son and Father are equal! Jesus and the fig tree; Was it not unreasonable to curse the tree for being fruitless when, as Mark expressly says, "it was not the season for figs"? The facts connected with the fig tree are these. Toward the end of March the leaves on a fig tree begin to appear, and in about a week the foliage coating is complete. Coincident with this, and sometimes even before, there appears quite a crop of small knobs, not the real figs, but a kind of early forerunner. They grown to the size of green almonds, in which condition they are eaten by peasants and others when hungry. When they come to their own indefinite maturity they drop off. These precursors of the true fig are called taqsh in Palestinian Arabic. Their appearance is a harbinger of the fully formed appearance of the true fig some six weeks later. So, as Mark says, the time for figs had not yet come. But if the leaves appear without any taqsh, that is a sign that there will be no figs. Since Jesus found "nothing but leaves" - leaves without any taqsh- he knew that "it was an absolutely hopeless, fruitless fig tree" and said:"May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered. "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away. 36"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah." Matt. 24:35-36 Jesus was both God and man. He had two natures. He was divine and human at the same time. This teaching is known as the hypostatic union; that is, the coming-together of two natures in one person. In Heb. 2:9 that Jesus was ". . . made for a little while lower than the angels . . ." Also in Phil. 2:5-8, it says that Jesus "emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men . . ." Col. 2:9 says, "For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form." Jesus was both God and man at the same time. As a man, Jesus cooperated with the limitations of being a man. That is why we have verses like Luke 2:52 that says "Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." Therefore, at this point in his ministry he could say He did not know the day nor hour of His return. It is not a denial of Him being God, but a confirmation of Him being man. Also, the logic that Jesus could not be God because He did not know all things works both ways. If we could find a scripture where Jesus does know all things, then that would prove that He was God, wouldn't it? He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Tend My sheep" (John 21:17 - NASB). Jesus did not correct Peter and say, "Hold on Peter, I do not know all things." He let Peter continue on with his statement that Jesus knew all things. Therefore, it must be true. But, if we have a verse that says that Jesus did not know all things and another that says he did know all things, then isn't that a contradiction? No. It is not. It simply shows that he was both God and man. MuhammedAli Wrote Are you sure that perticular verse in that perticular Surah was indicating the Christian Trinity or the Quranic trinity, which consists of Mary rather then the Holy Spirit? Actually it does make a difference if you translate dont say three as Trinity. The differnce being when it says dont say three it could mean dont say three separate Gods! The Quran translators should translate it as "dont say three", not Trinity as this is a delibrate attack on the Trinity. The word Trinity is not even in the bible, we could have easily translated "baptise in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit" as Baptise in the name of the Trinity. But we try to use the most accurate translations. As we both agree that there is no word for Trinity in the Arabic language the word shouldnt be translated as such. MuhammedAli Wrote I can give you the wrongness of the Qurans understand; "And behold! God will say: O Jesus the son of Mary didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of God? He (Jesus) will say: Glory to thee, never could I say what I had no right (to say)" Surah 5:119 If the Quran takes the trinity in this form then shouldnt you? Why hasn't the Quran clearly condemed The Christian Trinity of Father,Son and Holy Spirit? Can the Quran itself explain to us why Mary is in the Trinity? MuhammedAli Wrote First of All Catholics Call Mary the Mother Of God because she is the Mother of Christ who IS God in the Flesh. Did you know that the reason behind calling Mary the Mother Of God was because people started denying Jesus's Godship? And therefore this title was given to Mary to reinforce Jesus divinity as God! Catholics do not worship Mary they honor Mary as the Mother of their beloved Saviour. However this has nothing to do with the Trinity mentioned in the Quran. The Trinity mentioned in the Quran has never been part of the Catholic Trinity. Therefore the Catholics are not "still" practicing any heresy because the never accepted the Quranic Trinity in the first place. So that claim is refuted. MuhammedAli Wrote Really? Does that make our doctrine wrong? no! The Hindu religion is very different in general. MuhammedAli Wrote
"And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all mankind shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." (Isaiah 40:5) "Listen to me, my people, and give ear to me, my nation; for a law will go forth from me, and my justice for a light to the peoples." (Isaiah 51:4) The Lord has bared His holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. (Isaiah 52:10) And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd. (John 10:16) "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats." (Matthew 25:31,32) He entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons; and he would not allow any one to carry anything through the temple. And he taught, and said to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations?' But you have made it a den of robbers." (Mark 11:15-17) The resolution of this tension (or contradiction, as some would see it) can be found within both the Old and New Testaments. By speaking firstly of the Children of Israel, the Old Testament hints at a sequence in the Servant's activity: And now the Lord says, who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him, and that Israel might be gathered to him, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God has become my strength - he says: "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth." (Isaiah 49:5,6) First the Children of Israel and then the Gentiles. The New Testament is quite explicit about a time sequence: the time before the climactic events of Jesus' ministry. Before these events Jesus limits His ministry and that of His disciples to the Children of Israel. After these events His disciples are to be witnesses to all nations. Thus the crucified and risen Messiah addresses His disciples: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...." (Matthew 28:18,19) MuhammedAli Wrote What do you mean by intimate relationship? You mean how a man would have intimate relationship with woman? Or a spiritual relationship with God? Yous should be carefull what you say, and how you should say it, cause you wouldnt want me to lampoon you bible on this intimate relationship, cause i just have some parts of bible which says that God commanded the Israels to kill every woman hwo has not known a man intimately, and keep the young woman alive, and out of those woman 32 thousand virgins where saved for Lord, perhaps Lord wanted to get to know them intimately, i cant remember the refference but if you feel the itch i will love to find it and further expound on it. I mean a intimate Loving spiritual relationship, nothing sexual which is obvious. Out of the 99 names Muslims contribute to God, not one is Father. Whatever you want to discuss about the bible, feel free. Sorry about the length of this post everyone. Peace |
