ArchivedDifference of understandingHey they refuted nothing in fact. You did not understand the gist of my initial topic message. Whatever we say, whatever we claim its just not conclusive. Both for Christians and Muslims. Have you seen anybody who changed his religion just because of so-presumed strong arguments, when his motives for change is not ignited in his own. In other words, do you think bare thoughts will make an effect on your addressee? Imo, they will not, because change starts in the heart not in mind. That is why i said being nice and reliable is more important. So, the verses and different interpretations I quoted were just an example to make my point more visible. But people omit the main point and draw arguments on the given example, which I am not really interested in. Also I am not really interested in converting anyone to Islam, or defend Islam. Islam is a strong religion indeed. To clarify the initial point I would say, goodness is a simple concept. One can recognise it everywhere. On this forum one said "These are good teachings by Muhammad, but has no value unless..." Goodness has its own value acknowledged by God. No need to be acknowledged by any religion further, be it Islam or Christianity. Goodness has its own affect on your addressee, because it depends on common grounds of humanity. We have a capacity to understand what is good and what is not. (Btw, I'm not someone who thinks religions are pointless or unnecessary. Thats a different discussion though.) Finally, I would rather ask your ideas about the general point, not examples? What is more important? One's behaviour or thoughts? Or which precedes? Thanx, Unite |
