ArchivedThe Savior, First SinPeace Unite, And here is the biggest misconception of all. Unite, Christians don't think they are going to heaven on account of good deeds at all. You see, according to Isaiah, our good deeds are like filthy rags to God. And Isaiah should know that. After all He saw God. Read Isaiah 6 and see what happened to this prophet when he beheld the glory of God Almighty. He was totally overwhelmed by his sin and the very thing God had called Him to do "preach as a prophet" was the very thing He realised he was totally incapable of doing "woe is me, I am ruined, for I am a man of un clean lips and I live amongst a people of unclean lips and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty." Doesn't it seem rather strange that a Prophet who is called to speak out should declare himself unclean. What was it that produced the change? Was it good deeds? declaration of his sin and repentence? Nope.. the angel came, touched his lips with fire and then declared see this has touched your lips, your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for. See, we may be forgiven, but our guilt remains. Shame for sins remain and the stain of sin remains even when we confess our sins. Only as our sin is atoned for can we turn away the wrath of God. He who is the only perfect balance in the universe is both merciful and full of wrath against sin. he is both righteous and angry. he is both loving and our judge Only in providing for our salvation Himself, could He satisfy all those attributes and maintain them in perfect balance. Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sin. As the live coal clensed Isaiah and took away His guilt, so as I allow God the right to be God and provide the means to take away my guilt, may I also know myself clean and forgiven. In peace Carol |
