Peace Unite,
You know the hardest thing I've ever seen people do? Actually going to someone and apologizing for something that they did. They would deny it until the proof was in their faces [sometimes when the proof is there, they still try to pin the blame on someone else- I myself am guilty of this]. No one wants to admit that they are wrong. This is human nature. Selfishness. This is the nature of sin. If people could get away with doing wrong and no one would catch them, they would do it forever and ever.
Usually, if you think about it, if one person does something wrong, an entire group of people suffer for this one person's actions. If something bad can be attributed to people because of the mistake or wrong-doing of one person, why can't something good benefit the people as well?
I remember watching tv and there was this show where when the young rich kid did something wrong, his father wouldn't beat him, but beat the little slave boy that was bought to be the rich kid's friend. It was very sad and the rich kid learned not to be bad anymore because someone would suffer for his badness.
The things we do sometimes don't affect us, but it does effect the ones around us. Example would be an abusive parent. The child grows up and maybe can't deal with a relationship due to his/her experience. I think I'm getting off topic...sorry..
The humility of accepting your sin and confessing it to someone [especially God since He will hold your secrets until the very end] is very important especially if you mean it [which you should, from the bottom of your heart] and want to change that part about your behaviour.
Jesus came to show us how we should model ourselves and act which is pleasing to God. No matter how many sacrifices we could make [as Jews], or how many "good works" we can do, we would still continue to sin [and fall short] against God, why? Because of our original sin. We were born sinners. No one wants to accept the fact that they were born not perfect, no one wants to hear that they are sick in sin. I know I don't like to hear it, but it is true.
We can't begin to comprehend the amount of love that God has for us. Even if we were to utilize 100% of our brain, we probably wouldn't be able to comprehend. For someone to become the final lamb, go to the cross for us so that we may have a chance to retain a loving relationship with the creator and learn...I mean if you think about it, it takes your breath away...Praise God the almighty, what a wonderful God He is.
