ArchivedThe Origins of Hinduism and Buddhism :: Truth, once moreTruth, once more There is some insight, here in you after all! (And though I be simple in mind, your Biblical concepts, I do understand...) One thing you say is certainly "true": regardless of religion and beliefs and values, the Absolute Truth is still the Absolute Truth. I'm afraid, however, that you followers of Christ are mistaking the chief concept behind your faith as the Absolute truth. As you, yourself, said, my friend The One truth "is this: 'Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.' Then what was the Absolute truth before Christ?...or before the Old Testament, or before the birth of humanity, or before the formation of the earth, or before the dawn of time itself? Is the truth only 2000 years old, then? You say that this Being you call God has an "infinite mind." A mind, by definition, is a construct of the cause and effect world, the world of duality and time. So then, what is the ultimate driving force behind your God's thoughts? (ie Why is He vengeful and jelous?) And behind his existence for that matter? You say that 'I' believe in a Truth beyond God. You're partially right--I believe that there exists a truth beyond and within and behind what you Jews/Muslims/Chistians call "God." You see, what we call "God" (loosely translated) is the fundamental, absolute oneness behind all that is manifest and unmanifest. You scoff (spelling?) at the concept of enlightenment, without truly knowing just what you're dismissing; you, thus, limit yourself to getting nearer to a Creator, who as is described in your own Bibles, is seated in the manifest world of cause and effect. I wonder, does your God know the nature of his own existence? And if He does, does He truly exist?? Please remember, there is a Truth behind all that can be named..."That and only That is worthy of finding..."--Bhrd. Upanishad Good luck on your journey...[/quote] |
