Peace all
No one has commented so let me show you some other very exciting promises from the Word of God...
We said in the past posts that whilst the covenant promise was given through Isaac, there was also a very specific answer to Abraham's prayer that "Oh that Ishmael would live before you." Genesis 17:18
Genesis 17:19-21 is God's answer to that prayer. God essentially answered Abraham by saying "Abraham, if you are asking that Ishmael replace Isaac as the covenant heir, My answer is NO (vs 19) But if you are asking me to bless Ismael, my answer is yes, and this is how I will bless him (vs 20)
Note then the four fold promise to Abraham regarding Ishmael
1. I will bless Him.. this is as much a divine promise as is the covenant promise. The blessing is different but it still exists.
2. I will cause him to be fruitful and multiply (Ishmael is guranteed to have progeny)
3. He will become the father of 12 princes and i will make him a great nation. (untattiw legoy gadol)
4. He will be established.
Now.. although this is not the covenant promise given to Isaac, it does have it's roots in the covenant promise given to Abraham, that through the offspring of Abraham (Isaac) all nations of the world will be blessed, and this includes those nations that have come from Ishmael.
Please bear with me.. read this again and then read my next post.. for this is exciting....
blessings to all
