Dfndr, Remember how you were the one who would mostly use 'cut&paste' without even knowing about the material!!
Well, If you still remember... we covered this topic in which I believe you couldnt answer anymore and you letf! Thats hypocrysy to turn this against Muslims, so for those who havent read our discussions before, I'll paste the same answers: Here was my first original post:I seek refuge with Allah against satan the cursed.
In the name of Allah the most Compassionate, The Most merciful
From the doctrines of trinity to simple practices, a christian, is 'infected' with pagan beliefs. Instead of keeping to their original teachings, they were so eager to get converts that they had to absorb some alien practices into their faith.
Ive read the posts about the trinity already and i'm not trying to refute it... but i will show its similarity to paganism.
Hindus believe in the trinity of their god: Brahma, the creator god; Vishnu, the preserver and Siva the destruction god. Krishna is believed to be Vishnu's incarnate and the saviour who sacrificed his life for thier sin!
Babylonians had similar beliefs: Baal, the sun god; Simiramis, the virgin mother and Nimrod, the divine son.
Greek/Romans too (and thats the most important one heer): Zeus/ Jupiter the king of gods; Artes/diana the goddess of birth and Mithra the god of light. In turn, 'Mithra' originates from Iran
Therefore, the trinity is not something specific to Christians.
Now, for the usual practices: Christmas which is celebrated on the 25th december is of pagan origins. 25th december was the day that pagans (Greeks/Romans) would celebrate the Birthday of Mithra. At first, the 'birthday of christ' was celebrated on the January 6th. Obviously, not all christian agreed with that; some said summer or spring. In the Luke 2:8 we read: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night."
December is the rainy season in Palestine and the weather is cold. The shepherds do not keep their flock in the fields during December but since mid October they are kept in the fold. See details from the site http://www.hopeshineministry.com/The_Or ... stmas.html
So, it turns out that Christians moved the date to 25th to as to 'win some converts' from the pagans, whose practices were quite close to that of the christians. This shift can be traced back to the 4th century.
Now the christmas tree: an obivous sign of pagan practice! People in the northen Europe used to believe that the evergreens had some kind of power to keep evil away since they could stay green throughout the seasons.
And the decoration! These are copied from the sun worshippers
Sabbath was shifted to Sunday: Has to do with the 'Sun' because of mithra the sungod of romans
Even the holy "Easter" holiday is a pagan innovation unknown to Jesus (pbuh) and his apostles. The name "Easter" is derived from the pagan spring festival of the Anglo-Saxon goddess of light and spring "Eostre" (or "Eastre") and to whom the month of April was dedicated. Many folk customs associated with Easter such as colored Easter eggs (representing the sunlight of spring in her festival), the Easter bunny (a symbol of fertility) are of pagan origin also. Her festival was celebrated on the vernal equinox (March 21st), and so too is the Christian "Easter." It was celebrated to commemorate spring and the sun regaining it's strength. Once again, the "Son" Jesus (pbuh), regained his power and came to life at the same time
The cross: used by romans to crucify criminals
The Christians borrowed the emblem of the Roman sun God, the cross of light, to be the emblem of Christianity. Before this, the official symbol of Christianity was that of a fish, a symbol of the last supper
According to christians, the cross was used to torture and kill Jesus. Instead of despising it ( The object used for torture), they revere it...and defend it.
I'll give an example: lets say... I torture someone (X) with a fork until he is almost dead. I leave him alone in a forest. Then I bring the fork with me and tie it around my neck. After that, do you think that (X)will be happy everytime he sees a fork? Would the fork remind X of good memories? No.
If christians say Jesus will return.. then will he be with: those who revere the object used to torture him or those who are more closer to him in their ways (the Muslims dress, have a beard and prayer to the One and Only God). The Muslim womens dress are very decent a little bit like how christians say the mother of Jesus was dressed.
I've probably covered most pagan practices in christianity by now. If a Christian is able to detach him/herself from such practices and think as an independent/neutral person... no doubt that he/she will be led towards Islam. Thank God the Bible was not 100% corrupted and the small amount of truth in it has opend the eyes of many christians.
