ArchivedThe Outlaw Gavin Newsom :: Re: the constitutionRe: the constitution And I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said "and some people are more equal than others." Besides what you quoted is from the Declaration of Independance; not the Constitution of the United States. Notice what it states about governments "deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed" not the court system? If you see equal rights as egalitarian then we should allow all people to have equal access to all government institutions including schools, colleges, etc. The rich should not have better access to good legal counsel simply because they can afford to pay the big bucks for slick attorneys that did not have a case load that exceeds the time they have to handle them. Singles should not be penalized by our tax laws simply because they do not have children. There should be no tax advantages because a person has a child. Why should my tax burden be greater than that of a married man making the same amount? There are a lot of inequities in the nation. How do you suggest making the playing field equal for all? Communisim is a proven failure, so I guess that system does not work. What is equal about two men verses a man and a woman? Equal rights based on gender is one aspect, equal rights based on ethnicity is another, where do you see equal rights for sexuality in our constitution? |
