<i>"Ah, so you don't like it when your presumptions are questioned based on 30 years of experienced living in states as diverse as California, Texas, Nebraska, and Colorado? You don't think I know what I am talking about based on what, your presumptions and liberal new age philosophy? "</i>
What don't I like? When did I say I didn't like it? What "new age" philosophy? What I've been saying is that your perosnal expiriences and feelings are not grounds for concluding that all homosexuals fall under your bahvioral description. I don't care how expirienced your time living a gay lifestyle was, you cannot use that to conclude that everyone is as you were.
<i>"As to your age that has a lot to do with your view of a sexual orientation you apparently know little or nothing about."</i>
I dind't ask what my age has to do with it, I asked why you had assumed what my age <i>was</i>. I believe that I know a fair deal of what sexual orientation is, both from my own expirience and expiriences of people I've talked to.
"<i>If you are going to bring issues into this discussion I am going to respond.</i>"
That's fine, in fact that's what I'm expecting, but you shouldn't make assumptions about me. And what's with throwing the word "liberal" left and right? (no pun intended) I haven't brought political aspects to this conversation, so can we leave out the buzzwords please?
"<i>Now, how many of the scientific studies into the gentic causes of homosexuality have you read? How many of the psychological studies done in the last 40 years have you read? Have you investigated Dr. Spitzer, Dr. Throckmorton, or what is found on NARTH or are you pushing a philosophy based simply on our current society and its liberal bent?"</i>
I've found the most convincing to be studies such as the twins study, in which idenitcal twins raised apart showed a conditional probability of being gay much higher than that of 2 independent samples (ie, genetics were related).
Studies popular right now in UCSF involving the limbic structures [the emotional/physiological maintenance process centers of the brain clustered around the brainstem] of gay males. Results of these studies are already present in in-production versions of harcourt brace jovanovich health textbooks.
I've been to Throckmorton's site before, and frankly, I found it to be very biased. I tryto avoid reports and information presented by <i>either</i> sides of the issue that are biased.
