I saw the movie last night. Jesus is proclaimed as He truly is.. the Messiah, the Son of God and my Saviour.
My impression of the movie? Every mark on his unrecognizable body was for me. Jesus took it all ... every thing they did to him for me. Yes, it was graphic.. very graphic, and often I wished a scene would end, it seemed so long.
But that MUST have been how it was for Him..
What was my over riding thought throughout the movie? It was not the Jews, it was not the Romans it was me who put Him through all that. If I had been the only person alive he would still have done it. I was Mary Magdalene and it was me he was lifting out of the dirt by all that they did to Him.
The world is watching and learning for the first time perhaps, what it meant for our Lord to be unrecognizable.. for every stripe to be our healing, and what it meant for him to be wounded for our transgressions.
I can't say much more. This movie will touch you as no other impression of the life of Christ has ever done.
