ArchivedBiblical Writers Just Blew This One !Oh brother Believer ..you're dead wrong and don't even understand your Bible! Here ..let me help: 9 ¶ Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. .10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: .11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. 13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. ________________ COMMENTARY: ---------------- 9 - Understand doctrine They must be ready for solid food. Symbolically they are children who are taught gradually and from various experiences and explanations. Thus we learn the Scriptures from a variety of passages. 11 - Another tongue Considering the next verse, we see that they would learn their lesson from the (conquering nations). Cruelty would help them remember the Lord. (Not listening to the prophets v13), they would fall and be taken captive. 12 - Rest Following the Lord's instructions they would have peace but they would not listen. 13 - But the word of the Lord The standard does not change. Rejecting grace, they were condemned by the law. ( conquering nations= Moslims under the leadership of Omar) ( Not listening to the prophets = Jesus & Mohammed peace upon both) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Whom will he [God] teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, those taken from the breast? For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little." (Isa 28:9-10 RSV) That is a beautiful description of how the Quran is written. Unlike theological books, there is not a chapter on sin, another on heaven, another on angels, etc. The Quran mixes it all together, interspersing one truth with another, so that a balanced approach to life is given, "precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little." For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. as parents and nurses, in a lisping manner, and in a language and tone different from what they use in common, speak unto their children, accommodating themselves according to their capacities and weakness; and so it is a continuation of the method to be used in instructing the world ,Jews included, as being like children: or else these words are to be considered as a reason why, since they refused instruction in this plain, easy, and gentle manner, by the ministry of the prophets of the Lord, he would speak to them in a more severe and in a rougher manner in his providences, and bring a people against them of a **strange language **they understood not, and so should not be able to treat and make peace with them, and who would carry them captive into a strange land .. |
