Homosexual Discussion ForumHomosexuality and the Possibility of ChangeI will again state I am not an exception. You are appealing to psychiatry, which a little over 30 years ago took homosexuality out of the DSM III with no real studies that backed up their decision. More and more psychologists and psychiatrists are coming to understand that homosexuality is not an irreversable condition and that not all ex-gays simply repress desires. Kinsey's work had come under major fire since it was published, however, please note the part I bolded. Not one man or woman I know who has changed their sexuality do so through counseling with a psychiatrist or psychologist. No man or woman in the right mind is going to submit to the barbaric treatments used by "medical professionals" to treat a condition they did not understand. Frontal lobatomies, hormone treatment, aversion therapy, even shock therapy did not affect a "cure". You cannot "cure" a homosexual, a homosexual can mature out of the mindset if there is sufficient motivation and a root cause can be determined. |
