ArchivedThe Jesus They SeeI agree. What type of government does the United States have? A government of the people, for the people, and by the people. So how do we influence our government? The ballot box and communicating with our elected representatives who are responsible to the people who elected them. Who makes the laws of this country? The Senate and the House of Representatives. Writing to our elected representatives and opposing or approving their individual votes and actions is part of our governmental authority. So how should we as Christians respond to President Bush? We can lobby our local elected officials to impeach him, and we can lobby our neighbors to get him out of office at the next election. What has Adam proposed that will benefit this nation? Has he advanced a platform that will return this nation to its Christian roots? No, he is bashing the government, which happens to be a favorite armchair activity of every American that sees something wrong with either the Democrats or the Republicans or both. So what is the solution? If you are a fundamentalist Christian you vote Republican because the Democrats are pushing a liberal agenda that denies our Christian roots and appointing liberal judges that are making law not enforcing our Constitution. The Supreme Court has established as law "the right to privacy" a concept that does not exist in the U.S. Constitution. A California mayor is stirring up anarchy by violating a California Law passed by the people of California. Who elected that mayor? The people of San Francisco. Who is at fault, the mayor or the people who elected him and the judge who has refused to enforce a California Law? What are Christians doing about it? Suing the City of San Francisco and its mayor, this is the governmental process, not posting personal opinions to message boards that criticize the country you live because you disagree with the President. Who gave the President of the United States to go to war? The Senate and House of Representatives. So whom should Adam be going after? Those elected officials who have violated his sense of fair play and Biblical teaching. You cannot change the past but you can influence the future by grass root activism that gets the best people available in office. So who is at fault for how other nations view the United States? The electorate not the elected since the electorate keeps putting liberals back in offices that don’t practice Christian values. What is Adam’s solution to fix the problem? I have not seen anything that makes viable sense in his posts. This is a Presidential election year. Which candidate does Adam see as a viable leader that can change how the U.S. is preceived by other nations? |
