Hi
Still on holiday here till next week. I return home on the 16th February and then will have a clean run until the end of the year, God willing and as long as I don't end up with a year like last year with two major unexpected visits away. I am on the computer every morning for four hours the bulk of which I spend on this forum, or watching the forums generally, so time is not an issue for me.
I am more than happy to moderate any forum with anyone, but with one small request.
It is essential that in discussions with muslims we do stay as gentle as possible in our responses. This doesn't mean we don't correct error with truth, but we need to be very alert that how we respond is as important as what we say. Those who reply with frustration or anger or even comments we think childlike only make up the minutest number of those who read the posts. They may only read one post from us and then move on.. so what we say in every post has to have maximum impact as if we were really replying to an unknown poster, rather than the Muslim who has posted the reply we are actually responding to.
I would like to team up with anyone who is happy to approach Muslims in this way, or I know we may end up with problems amongst ourselves. I think that that is equally important in any people who pair up.
Obviously our approach still needs to be okayed by the supermoderators, but well, one problem I have had is a conversation being closed when we think it's off thread.. move the thread and put a note to say where it has been moved to, so that people know where a thread has gone. It only has to be one line.
Another problem is if we believe as moderators a thread is exhausted, if it is still receiving posts, it isn't closed. I don't think any of us are here to win debates, but to lovingly share truth.
If two moderators are going to look after each forum, they should talk first, then close and archive the thread.. other moderators who think a thread should be closed could pm it. Then a note in the closed thread as to where to access the discussion, will mean searchers can still know where to find information they are searching for.
God bless you all and see you back to normal after the 16th Feb
