ArchivedAre hermaphrodites required to practice celibacy ld topic?Wow. I was gonna ask this. This question cuts to the nub of some of the "natural law" argument. Hermaphrodites have two sets of genitalia - both male and female. In the US & Europe is has been common practice that when this rare birth defect occurs the parents are asked to select a gender based on the surgeon's recommend and the child recieves surgery to eliminate the "additional" genitalia. Can such a person every practice sexual intimacy? From a physical standpoint, yes. There are documented cases of functional hermaphrodites (both genitalia functioning) though reproduction is usually not likely. If we say that all are created male or female, how do we counsel a Christian hermaphrodite? Are they required to practice celibacy to avoid homosexuality? |
