Every example you gave from the OT had as much to do with social customs as to religious practices. The one criteria you left out is prayer. When you bow to an image and then pray through that image you are worshipping than image or the person it represents. You continued use of household decorations as images is a bit ludicrous, if a person, Asains as an example, prays to or through that household image it is an idol and they are an idolater. If on the other hand the image is merely a decoration no sin is involved. It is not the image that is sin, it is the purpose of the image that makes it sin. |
