ArchivedSame-Sex Marriage Hot Topic at Town Hall EventLinda, You want us to be treated unequally. That you have religious justification for such inequality does not change that. Not everyone in the U.S. is a Christian. People of other religions and even atheists can get married here, without consulting your religious beliefs as to their eligibility. What your Lord and Savior taught about marriage is irrelevant to many citizens of this country, gay and straight. You don't have to say "gay people should get married" -- not when you consider "marriage" as a sacrament of your religion. You don't have to say "atheists should get married," either, in that context. But I cannot see why saying "gay people should have the same rights as others, including the right to civil marriage" is so impossible. |
