Saints
In the Protestant view, all believers are saints in God's eyes because we belong to Christ, Christ is our righteousness. The Catholic view is that there is a hierarchy amongst believers. Apostles and dsiciples of the Bible are venerated and called saints. "Saint" in the Catholic view is a believer whose life showed obvious divine grace and having God's grace and power, from the first century to the 20th century. I think Mother Teresa has been made a saint by the Catholic Church.
Mary gets more honor than the apostles do because she is the mother of Jesus, chosen to carry the Christ child. I have no issue with honoring saints, but in practice, it seems that Catholics are worshipping them and praying to them. Only God (Father, Son, Spirit) is to be worshipped and prayed to, not the saints. I think that is a big error in the Catholic confession, along with confessing to priests and asking Mary for forgiveness, considering her like a Goddess. And the notion of a priesthood.
