alph: "guess the devil is the father of all lies. Seeing that he showed you Christians are to condemn themselves and others--something which Christ Himself totally opposes."
jesus: "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
I'm sure that you will accuse me of taking it out of context, but I read the scripture and the very implication of damnation (for all humans) is something I consider to be condemning. I also consider beating an "evil" slave because he does not do your will, to be a bit like judging others. After all who are we to decree who is good or evil? I thought only god could judge? I wouldn't be suprised if you were to tell me that "jesus is god so it's okay" or something like that, but it doesn't work for me. Selling the idea of "i"m the savior and "the only way," on the platform of "love me, accept me into your hearts or suffer eternal damnation of fire for the error of your ways" contains condemnation in and of itself.
jesus: "You blind fools!" Mt 23:17 "You foolish people!" Lk 11:40
Maybe you should explain these otherwise they could easily be interpreted as "judgemental and condemning." That's all.
alpha: "How long will you judge Christianity by the followers and not its doctrine?"
I am judging it's doctrine. Believe it or not, the actions of the practitioners of a religion does and will reflect on the religion itself whether you'd like it to or not. It's just a part of life kids.
alpha: "Also, that comment you just made is full of hypocracy. Due to the fact you are calling us "weak-minded," isn't that being arrogantly self-righteous?"
Not exactly. My definition of the "weak-minded" in that context reads more like this: "Religion is often the refuge of the weak and stupid, who feel that it justifies their point of view without them having to formulate any understanding of their position." A "weak-minded" religion in my opinion (something many of you can't stand unless it it agrees with yours) is one when your "god" (if you feel you should have one) is an "all-powerful, all knowing," being and that their religion is the only right one. When in fact, these people are often hostile to condradicting opinions, don't have many if any facts or evidence to support their claims, and when they do, they don't defend their position very well and often only go after the small stakes and don't like to even admitt that their teachings have faults or were taken from previous belief structures and mythologies totally different from theirs. Many times in the eyes of a xtian, anything good that happens is because of "god" and anything bad that happens is often referred to as "god's will," which to many others can sound like nothing more than a "weak" excuse for things they cannot explain and puts themselves in a position subject to victimization. If anything bad happens in the name "god" or jesus, it is often blamed on the "devil." It seems that many would rather blame the "devil" than realize that it is Man who has caused Man's suffering to further push their agenda in the name of their *religion.* LOOK TO THE SOURCE is all I'm saying.
As far as "self-righeous" goes, I define the "self-righteous" as people who think that they are better or better in the eyes of "god" than others. I have witnessed this myself first hand, by having many "self-righteous" comments directed at me for simply offering a counter position or questioning ideas that far too often go unquestioned and unanswered.
