Personally, I think asking "what's the purpose of life?" is the wrong question. Instead I think of life in terms of "we're alive and since most of us have the power to determine our own destinies, what do you want to do with it? Will we choose to make a difference in our own lives and/or our environment or will we choose to be irrelevent?"
I don't believe we are born to die, but obvioulsy death is apart of life.
It written that the Egytian God Thoth said something to the effect of the amount of knowledge and power we attain in this life determines what will happen to us in the next (The "power" he is refereing to, I believe is attained throught the meditation techniques outlined on the www.joyofsatan.com site, in the meditation section, that are still used today). I very much agree with that.
I also believe that there are different levels of existance, so to speak. Those of us who never reach any higher are either reincarnated or have their souls cast into oblivion to dissolve and become nothing. Others who achieve higher levels are sort of "reincarnated" into Daemons/Gods , like the ones who helped Mankind in the Ancient times. Socrates claimed to have had "Demons" who taught and guided him.
To me God is nothing more than a higher state of conscienceness. Almost all of the Old Religions were about achieving GodHead and true equality with these beings.
Scorpion: "Thanks."
No problem. I appreciate the insightful question.
