Christian/Muslim ThreadsSin and its forgivenesspeace and blessing to you as well Alexei, The problem is, you never stated it, you just assumed I would read between the lines and acknowledge that the teacher did all he could to help Alexei. But then again, your example didn't require me to read between the lines as the reasoning behind it was more focused on the foreknowledge of the teacher rather than the laziness of the student. Alexei, it would seem always, that there is a tension between 1. Divine foreknowledge and predestination. 2. Free will 3. Faith and works.. which has the priority in salvation? the Quran says this 8. "Then those whose balance (of good deeds ) is heavy, they will be successful. But those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls; in hell will they abide," (23:102-103). 9. "And We set a just balance for the Day of Resurrection so that no soul is wronged in aught. Though it be of the weight of a grain of mustard seed, We bring it. And We suffice for reckoners," (21:47). 10. "They are those who deny the Signs of their Lord and the fact of their having to meet Him (in the Hereafter): vain will be their works, nor shall We, on the Day of Judgment, give them any weight," online Qur'an, 18:105 Can you tell me in all honesty... Is the Islamic system of salvation really enough to save Muslims? . Is it enough to give you peace and a sense of joyful expectation in this world? In Islam, you ask us christians the question.. "how can an infinite God, become a finite man?" Can I ask the same question but in another form according to Islam "how can a finite man, ever hope to meet the Holiness and standards of an infinite God?" I guess my question is how can any of you who have come in complete sincerity to repentance and faith in Islam , who have willingly submitted your mind and will to become a slave to Allah, then go on in life to find within Islam a sense of peace, expectation and hope, when you are never sure of whether your good deeds will exceed your bad deeds to enable you to know with all certainty that you will spend eternity with the object of your submission and worship I truly am appreciative of your response Carol |
