ArchivedWas Jesus a real personIf you go back and reread my post and Delphi’s signature you will find that I stated since Delphi is an atheist he is just as biased as any Christian; therefore he is in no better position to determine the historical truth than you say I am. I also asked for an unbiased scholarly source for this discussion. I have visited religioustolerance.com on many occasions. I do not disagree with tolerating other religious beliefs. Accepting people while not accepting their religious beliefs or lack of any religious belief is not being intolerant. Okay the books you have read are evidence Jesus did not exist, the books I have read and website I can list are evidence Jesus did exist. Religioustolerance.org lists sources so have you read Shattering the Christ-myth which also lists references on the pro side of this subject? Lets see religioustolerance.org lists 21 references that support only their side of the argument. Shattering the Christ-Myth lists 56 references (including most of the 21 found on religioustolerance.org) that support the existence of Jesus. Do you see the difference? I would put more weight on a website that actually looks at both sides of this question. So Olopho what this boils down to is whose books and websites give a balanced discussion of did Jesus exist not which ones attempt to establish just one side of the issue. Jack you posted I am being unfair to Delphi, if I was being unfair to the those who believe Jesus did not exist I would not have split this thread off the one about the Passion and left it active; I would have split it off and deleted it. If you will check the forum heading you will see I left this discussion in a forum whose purpose is “Discussions about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ” when it actually belongs in the “Free For All” forum. I left it here so the originator of the discussion could easily find it. To state I am being unfair is not being fair. Is this a fair statement? This assumes that all people who believe Jesus was a real person lack common sense simply because we believe in miracles. I have seen secular medical doctors label some “anomalies” as medical “miracles”. I guess people seeking reliable medical treatment should avoid these doctors since they lack common sense. Find me a balanced website or book that was written by an unbiased source. And the http://humanists.net/jesuspuzzle/ does not qualify, as most of that site is nothing more than a diatribe against Biblical inerrancy. |
