Free from sin
Thanks for your reply and the question you ask. The answer is yes, I can back it up with Scripture.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
To be free from sin does not mean we can not, or do not sin. It means we are free from the law of sin, or the bondage of sin. If we are truely born of the Spirit of God (saved) then "sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace" Rom 6:14.
Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Joh 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
So, as you can see, there are many verses that tell us we can be free from the bondage and power of sin. For a person who is involved in the sin of Homosexual behavior, true salvation can bring a release from that sin just as it can from the sin of adultry, fornication, lying, stealing, drunkedness, and on and on.
Jesus died and paid the price for ALL sins for ALL mankind. It is up to us if we accept that or not. When we do, the power of sin is broken and we are instructed to "be ye Holy". In otherwords we are instructed to move away from those sins by the power of God, and move towards a more Godly walk.
Hope this helps answer your questions.
