I really think we are on the wrong track in our discussions on the Holy Books of Islam and Christianity. The Qur'an presents itself as the final infalliable witness of Allah and the Bible declares itself the final revelation which will never pass away until Heaven and Earth pass away.
Now all of us could spend many hours showing each other the problems in the texts of our respective Scriptures, yet when we do this, we are as I said in another post in the muslim/christian debate running the risk of totally undermining the character and attributes of God Himself by suggesting He cannot look after His own word.
Let us instead see what the Qur'an says of the Bible and how Muslims should be treating it.
Surah 2:136 states that
""Say ye, We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Ismail, Jacob and the Tribes, and that given to Moses, and Jesus, and that given to all prophets from their Lord, WE MAKE NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM."
Surah 3:2-3 states that God sent down the Law of Moses and of Jesus to be a GUIDE TO MANKIND.
Surah 5 is very specific that the Old and New Testaments have been sent by God and in them is guidance and light. Jesus Himself was sent TO CONFIRM THE LAW THAT HAD COME BEFORE HIM.
Surah 5 concludes by saying
"people of the book!! STAND FAST BY THE LAW, THE GOSPEL AND THE ALL THE REVELATION THAT HATH COME TO YOU FROM YOUR LORD. IT IS THE REVELATION THAT HAS COME TO THEE FROM YOUR LORD."
Devout Muslims are in fact commanded not to argue with the Jew or the Christian over their revelation. Yes, you are told in your writings to emphasize that Allah has added the Qur'an (which is where you and I will always differ.. as Jesus Himself is the final revelation, not another written book). This is emphasised again in Surah 29:46 "and dispute ye not with the People of the Book.... but say we believe in the Revelation that has come down to us AND THE REVELATION THAT HAS COME DOWN TO YOU."
Muslims should not see the Quran as contradicting the Bible but fulfilling it. The Qur'an to the Muslim is what Jesus Himself is to the Christian. In Islam God sent another written revelation. In Christianity, God Himself became flesh and gave us His very word personally, whilst fulfilling and confirming the Old Testament, given before His appearing.
To keep denying this fact whilst highlighting the supposed contradictions and corruptions is in fact wrong and actually takes you onto shaky ground. It is left to human interpretation to therefore decide which parts are corrupted and leaves God totally out of the equation to look after His own revelation.
