ArchivedWhy does it make sense to end this way?OneGod, greetings and thanks for your reply. No.. God created mankind to worship him and enjoy him for ever. He created mankind to be in eternal relationship with Him, knowing His blessing and His love intimately and without hindrance, just as I explained earlier to Alexei. But he didn't demand mankinds worship. A moral loving God could not do that. To be true to His own Holy Nature, mankind had to worship Him our of free will. Think of it in human terms. You can't make someone love you, you can only woo them and do what you can to show them how much you love them and hope they will return that love. Had God programmed mankind with the inability to love and respond to him then we would have been robots.. and there would have been a sense of immorality about it. God chose to give us free will, and as He knew that many would reject Him and that sin and the kingdom of darkness would affect our relationship with Him, He provided every means necessary in the life and death and resurrection, to ensure that "whosover believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." One of the holes I mentioned earlier, was that I couldn't show you without bible verses, that where it looks like God is dealing with entire nations to wipe them out for their sin, he first warned them and then He dealt with them, and this was true for Israel too. You see, no judgement occurs without first a warning and a way of escape being provided by God. The prophets spoke out against the nations and warned them often hundreds of years ahead of time that they were heading for destruction. And when Abraham prayed for nations and towns to be spared judgement, God honoured that prayer. When Jonah refused to go warn the people of Ninevah, God dealt with Jonah, not the town he was sent to warn. When God warns people they are heading for hell and judgement, he provide Jesus. The whole biblical narrative, describes God taking a group of people, blessing them and then because of that blessing, giving them a responsibility to take the Gospel message, the warnings and the solution to the world. In the Old Testament it was Israel that was to be God's witness to the nations. In the New Testament, it's the Christians who are called to be the ones to carry the message. God dealt severely with the Jews when they failed to be obedient, because it was His holy name they were bringing dishonour too. Today, it's the responsibility of every believer, to live a holy life and to take the Gospel to the world, and as Paul says, judgement begins first with the family of God. I'll discuss love in my next post tomorrow. But please do respond to this post if you like and I'll continue the discussion tomorrow as well. peace and blessing Carol |
