Archivedquestions for lady fatimaPeace Carol, That would be correct! I believe that the confusion that has arisen stems from that poor explanation that I had given. What I meant by “God is testing you” is that when a calamity befalls a believer, God is seeing how that person will react. It is the response that God is testing, to see whether a believer is thankful to God at all times. There is no doubt that disobedience and carelessness plays a great role, and one cannot blame God for such things, however, at the same time God is determining whether you are a true believer even at times when one thinks there’s nothing to be grateful for. I hope I have explained myself well. The problem is Carol; you are using the dictionary definition of the word slave. For a Muslim, to be the slave of Allah means that one has reached the goal of his/her life, which is to worship God. Allah tells us in the Quran that humankind and jinn were only created to worship God Almighty. Another point to make is that God Almighty calls the Muslims His friends, which is another indication that the definition of slave is not a derogative one! On the contrary, it is the greatest honour! |
