Let me give you an example Alpha:
II Kings 8:26
Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem.
II Chronicles 22:2
Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem
II Samuel 24:9
And Joab gave the sum of the numbering of the people of the King: in Israel there were eight hundred thousand valiant men who drew the sword, and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand.
I Chronicles 21:5
And Joab gave the sum of the numbering of the people to David. In all Israel there were one million one hundred men who drew the sword, and in Judah four hundred and seventy thousand who drew the sword.
The examples here (complete with attempted explanations by fundamentalist theologians) should be enough to prove the point that numerical contradictions exist in the Bible.
Jeremiah 36:30 "Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, he shall have none to sit on the throne of David. "
Which means he shall have no sons.
But we find this also:
Kings II 24:6 "So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead."
and counless other errors and conradictions. You find even more in the NT
Acts 1:4 "And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me."
Where were the disciples supposed to wait for Jesus' return? Acts and Luke (24:49) say Jerusalem, but Matthew (28:10) and Mark (16:7) says Galilee
Acts 1:9 "And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight."
Acts 1:12 "Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey"
According to these verses Jesus ascended from mount Olivet, but Luke (24:50-51) says that the ascended from Bethany.
And I can find many others. How can the word of God have such errors and contradictions. Is it not important to use my brain and common sense at this point and realize that these books were only written by men not insprired by God?
