ArchivedHow could you spread so much hate about gays?As an AIDS patient I find it ludicrous you are attempting to educate me about the disease, how it is transmitted, etc. My youngest brother Donald died of AIDS related causes in 1995. I am on The Body's mailing list and I link to their website on my website. So what about those of us who have never gone through conversion or reparative therapy and have changed our sexual orientation? You see, AngelBaby it does not take a shrink to reach a goal. If I may emphasize: The literature consists of anecdotal reports of individuals who have claimed to change, people who claim that attemtps to change were farmful to them, and others who claimed to haved changed and then later recanted those claims. The key word is anecdotal, not empirical peer reviewed studies. You may find this site bigoted, but I find this statement both bigoted and unscientific. I not only claim to have changed my sexual orientation I have, and this is true of Joe Dallas, Alan Medinger, Andy Cominsky, and thousands of other men and women worldwide. I know to many ex-gays who are married, have not recanted, and wonder why they waited so long to seek the encouragement and support they needed. I have every right to claim "professional pride" as one reason the APA's won't do peer reviewed empirical studies, mainly because they refuse to do so. I can interpret their biased pro-gay stance any way I want to interpret it; or is interpretation only to be used to counter our stance on homosexuality? Even Dr. Spitzer, a supporter of the 1973 removal of homosexuality from the DSM III has called for further studies based on his patients ability to change. His stated that those with deep seated religious convictions can change their sexuality. In other words some of his patients accept that old book as you refer to the Bible as correct. And by the way, we agree that no person can be forced into therapy to change their sexuality, they have to want to for their own reasons. And to even attempt to discount any person's religious views because the are counter to your own is just as bad as trying to force a person to change their sexuality. No society has ever fallen because it was a homosexual society, I did not say that, and neither did that article. You are misreading it on purpose. An increase in acceptance and the practice of homosexuality is historically the death knell of a society. Rome is the prime example; as are Sparta, Thebes, and several other Greek City States. If you take the time to do a little research you will find that when heterosexual morality goes into the gutter, homosexual activity and acceptance of homosexuality increases. Increased acceptance of homosexuality is not the cause of the fall of the culture it is the final symptom of the fall. You know what your problem is? You can't stand the idea that there are people who have changed and want to help others who want help changing. If this was not the case you would not be here doing everything you can to discount our faith. There is a denomination called the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Churches with 44,000 members in 1200 congregations worldwide that claim homosexuality is a viable alternate lifestyle approved by God. It was founded in 1968 by Troy Perry, a man who deserted his wife and children; ran off to California and started a gay church. Unitarian's and some major denominations either have or are moving toward denying historal Christianity by ordaining openly gay pastors. Gay's who are professed Christian's can worship to their hearts content at these churches. So why are you fighting us? Your just as prejudiced, bigoted, and narrow-minded as you accuse us of being. |
