Aineo you are just responding with other peoples interpretations. When I am saying the Bible is open to interpretation. Sure those might be plausible but so could many other different interpretations out there. To fit someones view. Any other passages could be munipulated to fit someone elses view.
Like the examples I made above.
Showing peoples interpretation doesn't show that it is not open to interpretation but it just shows another one thats out there.
You can pick the most logical interpretation that makes the Bible look perfect or to fit your view but you don't know how logically thinking the author was. They might of meant the most illogical interpretation. No one can know unless they are psychic.
Also I meant to say, what you said about mistranslations above. That the person adapted the Bible to their culture, has nothing to do with apparent mistakes that have been found. For example here is one,
The Radiant Face of Moses
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD .
Saint Jerome (who translated the Vulgate - the official Roman Catholic translation for centuries) made a mistake: he mistook the Hebrew word for "rays" or "beams" for the similar Hebrew word for "horns" so in Exodus 34, his translation said that when Moses came down from Mount Sinai, horns (rather than rays) came out of Moses' head and it said this until the bible was tranlated into english- hence the many pictures and sculptures (including the most famous one by Michelangelo) that show Moses with a pair of horns!
