ArchivedJudging & Testing God??Let's say a 7 year old child was living with his mom. And his mom told him never to eat snacks at night or else he would be punished. One night when the child was hungry, he decided to get up and sneak into the kitchen to get a snack thinking that his mom was asleep. When he went downstairs and opened the freezer to get some ice cream his mom was standing by the light switch and caught the child scooping out big chunks of vanilla. The child suddenly started to cry. Now the fact that the child was crying was not genuine repentance. He was crying because he got caught in the act and was fearful of the consequences. The same goes for Judas. Judas hanged himself because he thought there was nothing he could do once many started to believe Jesus was the Messiah. He tried to return the money to those who wanted him to give up Jesus. But they refused to accept the money which they gave Judas. If Judas was truly repentant, he wouldn't have hanged himself, but prayed to God and ask God for forgiveness. Now I'm not going to judge Judas, that God's job. But I just want you to realize that killing himself is not true repentance. It is a cop out. Sort of like an alcoholic drinking the pain away or a drug addict who gave up on life and relies on the drugs to ease the pain instead of going to God. When Peter denied Jesus did he hang himself? No! He truly repented and committed himself towards the work of his Master. |
