ArchivedJudging & Testing God??Well Fatima, you ask questions that I would expect from an athiest. And I know that you are not an athiest. I would only deeply answer the questions you call contradictions, but to the questions you asked in which the Bible opposes science, I will not deeply answer. This is because, when it comes to issues involving nature, we cannot comprehend God. God can do whatever He wants with nature. There are some people I know who do not believe in the splitting of the red sea, mainly because it is illogical or not scientific. But if you are a believer in God, you realize God does things with nature that no one can comprehend. Man can find out facts about nature, but God can break that natural law anytime He wants. This is a scientific question. So it does not really matter if God created the earth in 1 day, or more than 1 day. Because, God as we know, can break the realm of science anytime He wants. You and I both know this. Does not science also say we evolved from monkeys? Don't get me wrong, man has knowledge, but we do not know everything. In verses 3-5, God might not be talking about the light which gives us signs (the sun, stars, etc), but He might be talking about the light which shines in His spirit. Remember, before God created light there was darkness upon the earth (verse 2), that was until His spirit came over the earth and God said let there be light (verse 2). Is not God light Himself? If God is to be in our presence, do we need the sun or any other representation of light? God is light Himself. This is one possibility. A second possiblity is, the light could have came from heaven. Remember, God created heaven before He created the light. And the account in Genesis is that ONLY the earth had darkness. Verses 14-19 talks about the light in which we humans comprehend: the sun, stars, moon, etc. Light can either come from those signs, AND light can come from heaven or God Himself. Those are different representations of light. Therefore there is no contradiction. God is not talking about the creation of the earth taking place on the 3rd day. God already created the earth in verse 1. And in verse 2, it says the earth was without form, and void. And verse 3 says darkness was upon the face of the earth. In verses 9-13, God created certain characteristics of the earth, but not the earth itself. Is not God light Himself? Does God need nature or creation to accomplish His will? What is established science compared to the things of God? Established science comes from man. Does science prove the existance of angels? But anyway, let me get back to the verse at hand. I'm sorry to say, but where is the contradiction in your question? How is it a contradiction if you say the sun and the moon have light of their own? The earth is the one that receives light from the sun and the moon, the sun and the moon do not receive light from the earth. So in essence, the sun and the moon DO have light of their own. Even man made "established science" does not dispute this. |
