Aineo,
Well, I think I've explained why I don't find the anecdotal evidence to be compelling. If you can refer me to studies that include heterosexuals as well (i.e., to show how these factors compare between the two groups, not just to show the prevalence among homosexuals) I'd be interested. I'm inclined to think that if anyone from the anti-gay side did a study right (and I've seen it done wrong) then they'd be peer-reviewed, but I'd still be willing to take a look at studies that weren't.
Is Sonia someone you know personally? I can't seem to spot any links to anything on (ex)gay issues, but maybe I'm just distracted by all the fun geeky links... ah well. The last thing I need is to strike up a long-distance conversation with a cool geeky chick who isn't gay, but, from my perspective, could be.
Julie,
Well, I left out the rather twisted sense of humor my sister inherited from our dad, and the fact that she's writing a novel... I probably shouldn't insult the kid by calling her "typical."
Is it true lesbianism/homosexuality also come as the result of being academic/intellectual?
I doubt it... most people realize they're gay when they're in their early teens, and how many teenagers are academic/intellectual?
I've heard it argued that gay people are more well-educated than average, but I don't really buy it. I think any statistical data to that effect would have more to do with who will admit to being gay, and who won't.
