I believe that this quotation does not actually refer to the cruxifixion, but instead punishment/reward for deeds that are done on Earth. And also to not fear man's consequences (i.e destroying the body, the physical) on preaching the Gospel, but instead fear God, who is able to destroy the spirit. Therefore I also believe that you have used it out of context. Before I can continue with the rest of your answer, can I ask which version of the bible you are using, so that I can research the quotation.
