ArchivedWhat the bible says about homosexuality.... :: Hmm...?Hmm...? This is from the same chapter that says: Leviyicus 11:10-11 "But all the creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales - whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water - you are to detest. And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest their carcasses." Oh dear, the prawn industry is going to have entire forums devoted to protesting their existence. And I am much afeared for the future of the Austrailian shellfish industry, too. Or: Leviticus 15:19 "When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening" Ouch. Clear out, all women undergoing menses. You're unclean! (and for 7 days, too) Yes, although the question isn't directed at me. Face it, the blood of Jesus that everybody likes to quote has washed away a lot of the Old Testament rules, among other things. Unless you can find a similar mention of this in the New Testament, quoting from Leviticus is useless. And also, do you happen to live in Israel under a judge? Don't think so. Leviticus was written for them. For the general world population, refer to New Testament, please. Also: I happen to live in a predominantly Muslim country (that's without oil, btw), and although I'm not Muslim, I happen to think that that is being extraordinarily biased. Muslim nations seem to be misusing oil wealth. Do you honestly think that a Christian nation, if as technologically and socially backward (royalty!), would be able to avoid all the financial corruption that allows oil wealth to escape to the wrong hands simply because of religion? No, I don't think so. It isn't because of religion, it's because of standard human advancement. And also because a tremendous fountain of wealth, i.e. oil, was found in countries which are not, and were not, prepared for. But back to the topic. Homosexuality. Hmm. Just where is the New Testament statement that this is wrong? I'm not even going to elaborate the fact that the current Bibles are so re-interpreted, translated, rewritten, etc. etc., that you cannot use the details as any proof. I AM, however, going to remind everyone that it is YOUR interpretation of the Bible. YOURS and NOT everybody else's! Do NOT use a debatable part of the Bible as evidence because it isn't evidence. YOUR interpretation of the Bible does NOT work as evidence. I'm not YOU. Okay? And oh, before the flames start coming, most of the above part is actually to prove that quoting Leviticus actually draws the quoter into a whole lot of other rules. Even with his own interpretation. |
