Q. The notion of hell is so unlike God. How can you possibly say God would throw anyone into a raging inferno for all eternity?
A. The Scriptures assert that Hell is a real place, a place to which God never wanted to banish man. Hell was made for the devil and his angels (Genesis 1), not for man.
However, sin entered the world, and separated man from God, who's love was so great, He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins by dying a torturous death on the cross. All we need do is accept that payment; admit our sin and ask forgiveness. But not all are willing to admit it, and by their pride (the sin that felled Lucifer), one could say they throw themselves in hell by not bending their knee and admitting their guilt.
Hell is described as everlasting fire (Mt 25:41), everlasting punishment (Mt 25:46), outer darkness (Mt 8:12), everlasting destruction (2 Thess. 1:9), and the Lake of Fire (Rev. 19:20).

If you don't know Jesus now, please ask someone now about how to find total peace with God and forgiveness for all your sins. Remember
God so loved the world, He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him, would not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe, stands condemned already, because He has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil, hates the light, and will not come to the light for fear his deeds will be exposed." John 3:16-20 and Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, and whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on Him. John 3:36
