Linda,
Sorry to be unclear -- I meant my most recent query to you, not the underlying question of the thread. You said "We don't have to compromise our beliefs or feelings for anyone," to Aineo, and I said -- to paraphrase -- "Who's 'we'?" It wasn't intended as rhetorical... but I suppose it can be taken that way.
I'm arguing against Christians for demographic reasons, not ideological ones. And since I'm not arguing against Christianity per se, I think my points apply equally well to Muslims or Jews who might be against legalizing gay marriage for religious reasons. (As I've said, I won't argue against anyone for being "against homosexuality.") So, if you can point me in the direction of a board frequented by people of either of those religions, who have specifically set up an area to debate about homosexuality, perhaps I'll stop by and see if I have any more success with them.
I've never come across such a board, myself. Nor, on the inclusive religious boards I used to frequent, did I encounter more than two or three non-Christians on the anti-gay side of the debate... this in several years of participation, on a much busier board than this. As I said, there are more of you.
And I wouldn't vote for Bush if he were advocating gay marriage. But that's another issue altogether...
