Marty,
If you read Mr Banks' reply to my post on the different sects within Islam, this is where I am heading in my questions.. He is admitting that they rely not only on the Qur'an but on the hadith and traditions. I am doing two things in my questioning now.. trying to get them to a place where they both admit that there are "Christians" and there are Christians, and that not all they believe has it's foundations in the Qur'an.
I am about to post some Bible History and show how the Triune Godhead was seen not only by Christians, but by Jews and pre Islamic Arabs at the time of Muhammed. I'm going to develop that and in a second line of discussion show how Muhammed confronted the confusion of the time "with his new gospel."
So often, Muhammed is portrayed as a warrior leader, but in fact he started life traumatically as a child and developed a keen spirituality and desire to worship the one true God. Satan blinded him to the true faith, but as is always the case, it was the schisms in the then beliefs of christians groups that did a lot of the damage and Satan used to introduce a lot of his doctrine.
( I hasten to add, he ended life as genius of a warrior statesman, a very different person from the one who went on spiritual searches to find true faith in the early days).
I'm going to discuss church/Islamic history and see what reactions we get. I personally agree with Mr Banks on most areas he has discussed these past days.. and now is the perfect time for us to push home the point, that true believers in Jesus, are not necessarily those who call themselves christians.
