Science, Creation & EvolutionAnimal pain vs. human pain, physiology, and GodAnd other than the fact Genesis states that animals were vegetarians even theologians cannot answer this question. However: What was the purpose of the tree of life? Based on the context of Genesis 3 it would appear that in order to never die a physical death mankind had to eat of the tree of life. Now lets back up to Genesis 2: Does this "surely die" refer to physical or spiritual death? With Adam's sin mankind died spiritually and eventually (from lack of access to the tree of life) died physically. Scientists and theologians can speculate on when and why flies became important, but do you envision all vegetation in the Garden of Eden being immortal or fruit trees never dropping there fruit? What about the problem of eliminating waste products that all animals leave behind? Even the dung beattle was created for a purpose. |
