Catechism of the Catholic Church wrote: 


841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

The problem here is that Muslims reject the Catholic Church and its teachings, but yet the Catholic Church still considers them to be saved. Thus, a paradox arises: non-Christians who reject the Catholic Church and its teachings can be saved, but yet only non-Christians who cannot help not knowing the Catholic Church are saved. 

Do an Internet search using John Paul II + muslims and you can find a plethora of sites that document John Paul II speaking as Pope says that Muslims are saved outside the Catholic Church or even affirming Jesus is the Son of God, have been baptized, or meet Biblical criteria for salvation. 

Why was Pope Honorus declared a heretic? You have not answered this quesiton.
